Guidelines for Authors
The Journal for Vascular Ultrasound is dedicated to the publication of original articles pertinent to the field of vascular technology. As the official journal of the Society for Vascular Ultrasound, the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound will publish, after peer review, original scientific research and clinical articles, educational articles, case reports, review articles, and technical notes.
Statements and opinions expressed in articles and communications herein are those of the author(s) and not necessarily those of the editors or the Society for Vascular Ultrasound. Neither the Society nor the editors guarantee, warrant, or endorse any product or service advertised in this publication nor do they guarantee any claim made by the manufacturer of such product or service advertised in this publication.
An article or manuscript submitted for publication in the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound will be received and entered into the editorial review process with the understanding that it is submitted solely to this Journal and that no substantial portion of it is being submitted elsewhere.
Submission of Manuscripts
Address manuscripts and editorial correspondence to:
Steven R. Talbot, RVT, FSVU
Co-Editor, Journal for Vascular Ultrasound
Technical Director, Vascular Lab
University of Utah Medical Center
All manuscript submissions to the SVU Journal must now be made via email only. Please email your original manuscript as an attachment to your email (in MS word format) including all photos, figures, and tables. This will serve as the file copy of your manuscript. A second separate email must be sent on the same day—this one with all identifying materials removed (all names of author, co-authors and any institutional information) and disclosure forms. This email will be forwarded directly to anonymous JVU manuscript reviewers. Remember to make sure this second email still contains the title of the manuscript so it can be matched with the original submission. In addition, the following statement signed by all authors must be part of a separately mailed transmittal letter:
"The undersigned author(s) transfer(s), assign(s), or otherwise convey(s) all copyright ownership to the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound in the event that such work is published in the Journal for Vascular Ultrasound.”
"In addition, the authors confirm that they have removed all patient identification information from the manuscript and related figures in order to be in compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy.”
Disclosures (both need to be submitted)

Letters to the Editor
Letters to the editor must be no longer than 500 words and will be considered for publication if it clarifies a recent article or presents an opposing view. The authors of the original article will be provided with an opportunity to respond.
Unpublished data and personal communications are not to be cited as references; references to articles in press must include authors’ names, title of article, and name of journal. The reference list should be typed double-spaced on a separate page in numeric order as the citations appear in the text. Abbreviate journal names according to the Cumulated Index Medicus.
A description of a new technique will be considered for publication, but must not exceed 1500 words. The first paragraph should emphasize the importance of the new technique.
The receipt of your manuscript by the Journal will be acknowledged and a decision regarding its disposition made as soon as possible. All manuscripts are subject to editorial review. Accepted manuscripts will be edited to enhance conciseness and clarity. Page proofs will be sent to the author for final review. The responsible author must review and return the proof within 48 hours.
